Tarte au Chocolat
Ingredients
- 200g unsalted butter
- 200g dark chocolate (50% or more)
- 100g dark chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- 100g caster sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 170°C and line your 24cm diameter baking tin with baking parchment.
- Melt the butter and chocolate in a pot on medium heat. Stir until well combined and smooth. Take from the heat and let it cool.
- Using a hand mixer or a stand mixer cream the eggs, sugar, vanilla extract and salt until very fluffy and pale. That can take a while. I use a stand mixer for at least 6 minutes on a high speed.
- Mix together the flour, the cocoa powder and the baking powder in a small bowl.
- Stirring very slowly, add the chocolate- butter mixture to the egg mixture with a wooden spoon until combined. Then add the remaining dry ingredients and the chocolate chips to the batter.
- Place into the baking tin and bake for about 30 to 35 minutes. Let cool completely, best over night.
- If you like a firmer tarte au chocolat then add 3 tablespoons of flour and cocoa powder each.
- It tastes best with vanilla ice cream and fresh berries in my humble opinion.
