Tarte au Chocolat

Tarte au Chocolat

Ingredients

  • 200g unsalted butter
  • 200g dark chocolate (50% or more)
  • 100g dark chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 170°C and line your 24cm diameter baking tin with baking parchment.
  2. Melt the butter and chocolate in a pot on medium heat. Stir until well combined and smooth. Take from the heat and let it cool.
  3. Using a hand mixer or a stand mixer cream the eggs, sugar, vanilla extract and salt until very fluffy and pale. That can take a while. I use a stand mixer for at least 6 minutes on a high speed.
  4. Mix together the flour, the cocoa powder and the baking powder in a small bowl.
  5. Stirring very slowly, add the chocolate- butter mixture to the egg mixture with a wooden spoon until combined. Then add the remaining dry ingredients and the chocolate chips to the batter.
  6. Place into the baking tin and bake for about 30 to 35 minutes. Let cool completely, best over night.
  7. If you like a firmer tarte au chocolat then add 3 tablespoons of flour and cocoa powder each.
  8. It tastes best with vanilla ice cream and fresh berries in my humble opinion.
